5 Beautiful Things That Will Get You In The Christmas Spirit
The Christmas season can be so busy that getting in a festive mood can be difficult. There are places that I can visit that bring the Christmas spirit more alive. Church would be at the top of the list, even though it is not on this list. You will hear about church and Christmas in another article.
I love to travel, so some travel is involved for a few of these. But two of these places are easy to pull off no matter where you are. For my 5 Thursday Thoughts, here are five beautiful things that will help get you in the Christmas spirit.
Local Christmas Lights
Most rural areas usually have Christmas displays. Some families go all out. Entire neighborhoods will decorate, and people will come in. In more metropolitan areas, there are usually incredible commercial displays. Where I live, there is Dancer’s Bar and the Hoggard Lights, both of which are free. There is something magical about lights that brighten our Christmas season.
Your Favorite Christmas Movie
What is your favorite Christmas movie? Find time to watch it. My wife likes to watch old cartoons at Christmastime, like Rudolph and Charlie Brown. I love to watch Home Alone. You may prefer to watch A Wonderful Life or binge on Hallmark Christmas. Whatever your favorite Christmas television, make it a tradition to watch it around your house and get into the Christmas spirit.
Rockettes
The Rockettes usually make an appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. There is a traveling show that you may catch at a theater around the country. I have seen the Christmas Spectacular in Durham, NC, one year. However, there is something wonderful about seeing the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The beautiful pageantry concludes with the nativity scene, which brings the meaning of Christmas into full view.
New York City
Since I mentioned New York City, there is something magical about New York City during Christmas. It is a fun city to visit any time during the year, but Christmas is wonderful. There is something for everyone from the world-famous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to Bryant Park to the FAO Schwartz toy store. At every turn, dazzling Christmas decorations are bound to turn your Christmas season up a notch.
Bellagio Conservatory
The Conservatory at the Bellagio in Las Vegas is spectacular any time during the year. The display changes with each season, but the Christmas display is breathtaking. A horticulture staff of 120 turn flowers, plants, and trees into a beautiful display. The creativity and talent of these professionals will spark something in you that is certain to make your Christmas season better.
